Tell us a little bit about yourself.

I grew up in Oswego, NY. Growing up I was very very active playing sports and competing in dance. I graduated from Oswego State last August with a business administration degree and am pursuing a career in business and marketing. My hobbies include music, traveling, running, hiking/ anything outdoors, and of course Bikram Yoga! I am actually just about to venture to Boulder, Colorado to begin start a new path of my life and will miss my Oswego yogis so incredibly much!

What brought you to the Bikram yoga practice?

I learned about Bikram yoga about four years ago from Sandy's daughter, Nicole, whom I worked with at the time. She was always trying to get us to go and  I finally decided to give it a try. The first time I tried it I felt like it was pure torture. I got home and swore I'd never be back but for some reason I couldnt get it out of my mind and have been hooked ever since!

How often do you practice?

I try to practice about 4  to 5 times a week, depending on how busy my schedule is. If I could, I would practice everyday!

What specific physical issues, if any, did you have before taking your first class? What changes have you seen/felt in your body- overall physical and general well- being?

Before I started Bikram yoga I had horrible knee problems and was supposed to get orthopedic surgery on both my knees. However with the recovery process being so long I did not want to be off my feet for so long. However, after practicing Bikram yoga I have not had any knee problems since! If I don't practice for a couple weeks my knees actually begin to bother me again so Bikram has been my answer and I am so thankful for that! Overall, I feel so much healthier in every way!

What are the greatest benefits of your practice? How has this practice changed your health and life? Any emotional or other benefits?

The greatest benefits to Bikram Yoga is in all aspects of my life. I started eating healthier and have seen amazing changes  to my body. I also use Bikram as a form of meditation and have helped to ease my anxiety and stress. My ability to cope with things and have patience in everyday life has improved immensely. I honestly do not know what I did before Bikram yoga. I really believe it has changed my life and I cannot begin to explain how much I love practicing it.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

We are so lucky to have the beautiful studio in Oswego, NY. I am so thankful to Sandy for having the studio in Oswego. Not only is it beautiful but the staff of teachers are always so supportive and encouraging. Also all of my fellow yogis are so encouraging as well! Thanks so much Sandy, Deb, Judy and all of the traveling teachers throughout the years.

If you have not tried  Bikram yoga I highly suggest it, it has completely transformed my life and everytime I get to practice I am so happy to be there!
Namaste!
